What is 'House Sitting'
House sitting is when the pet owner entrusts their house to the "house sitter" while they are away. By mutual agreement, the sitter is allowed to temporarily live in the property in exchange for taking on various responsibilities. These responsibilities include caring for your pets, looking after the property, ensuring security, and overall ensuring that everything operates smoothly as if you were present.
Will you stay overnight in my home?
Yes, we provide 24-hour care and stay overnight in your home. This ensures your pets maintain their routine in familiar surroundings. This also provides security for your home while you are away.
Can I meet you before booking your services?
Absolutely! I encourage a meet-and-greet prior to booking for all new clients to give you a chance to introduce me to your pets and to discuss any questions or requests you may have. This will also give your me a chance to make sure that I know where everything related to your pet’s care will be in your home.
What happens in case of an emergency with my pet?
If there is a medical emergency, our pet sitter will notify you and transport your pet to the vet for medical care if necessary. Once there, the pet sitter can act as liaison between you and the vet to discuss treatment options. If there is an emergency in your home, our pet sitter will contact you and/or your emergency contact to take care of whatever problem has arisen.
We request that your emergency contact be a local with access to your home in the case that someone needs to be physically present.
Are you Insured?
Yes, I am fully insured. Please ask to see a copy of the certificate during our first meeting.
Paws at Home carries Public Liability Insurance to cover for ‘accidental loss or damage to property caused by the Paws at Home’. In addition to our insurance, we do recommend that you tell your own insurance company that you’ll be having a house sitter, as they would be covering any claim not caused directly by the sitter.
Obviously, we don’t expect there to be any issues during your house sit, but it’s good to be prudent when it comes to insurance.
Is there a minimum duration for bookings?
Whether you need someone for one day or a few weeks. We understand that every pet has unique needs, so we offer flexible options to fit your schedule and requirements. With our service, you can relax knowing your pets are in safe hands, getting all the love and attention they deserve while you're away.
What types of pets do you care for?
We cater to a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small animals. Whether you need someone to play with your dog, cuddle your cat, or keep your bunny company, we’ve got you covered. Please let us know your specific needs.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans and circumstances can change. We endeavour to be as flexible as possible.
Full refund of any deposit up to 7 days prior to commencement. Less than 7 days would incur 50% of the deposit, with less than 24 hours no return of deposit.
How do you ensure the security of my home while I’m away?
We provide an extra layer of protection by staying in your home, keeping a watchful eye on your property, and following any specific security measures you have in place. Enjoy peace of mind knowing that your home is in good hands, allowing you to focus on your travels without worry.
